In 2026, MEGAPHONE joins forces with e-Society.mk, the annual event led by Metamorphosis Foundation, to create a shared space for civil society actors, digital rights experts, researchers, practitioners, and partners working to strengthen democratic resilience in the digital age.

This year’s gathering takes place as part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation and TechSoup’s Digital Activism Program, in partnership with CIVICUS and under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) that covers the Global South.

MEGAPHONE is an annual event for 100 activists from CEE, Central Asia, and Caucasus (each time from around 26 countries) struggling in the era of disinformation and social media algorithms.

The event’s focus changes each year, depending on current events and the most relevant struggles of CSOs and activists in the region. At the same time, the goals stay the same – it’s always about equipping activists, CSO professionals, and journalists with skills and knowledge relevant to work in their areas (women’s rights, LGBTQ+, climate crisis, etc.) as well as giving them a sense of “being in it together.”

e-Society is an annual international conference with more than 20 years of tradition, bringing together experts, civil society leaders, journalists, policymakers, and decision-makers to discuss the future of the digital society.

The event’s focus evolves each year, reflecting the most pressing challenges and opportunities at the intersection of technology, democracy, and human rights – from digital rights, media and information integrity, and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity, digital inclusion, good governance, and citizen participation. At the same time, its goal remains the same – exchanging knowledge and experiences, connecting diverse actors, and advancing practical solutions for an open, inclusive, safe, and human-centred digital society.
